2008 : The Year of Change !
One month of 2008 just flew by without me getting the time to write a single blog.
Most of the first 4 weeks of 2008 was eaten up by the monstrous schedule of MMU.
The first week of 2008 was the week MMU students was 'celebrating' the new year by digging their heads into the books preparing for final exams, resulting me having to dig my head into their exams answer scripts wondering what they wrote.... and acting like Santa (still in Christmas mood ma...) trying to find reasons to give out free marks while putting red crosses everywhere... crosses nothing to do with the Master of Christmas.
The next 3 weeks was students' holiday.. mind you, not for the lecturers! So 2nd week of 2008 was spent sorting out the marks, 3rd week was spent attending many meetings and 4th week was spent panicking about the coming trimester (i.e. making preparations) the following week, which is this week, There goes the so-called Trimester "Break"... :(
Anyway, the beginning of the year is a good time to reflect on last year and plan for the new year, which I have honestly not found much time to do, but there are a few things I have in mind which I wish to change...
Speaking of change, MMU just have a new President! This new President (Prof. Zaharin Yusoff, the former Dean of School of Computer Science in USM) is very aggressively introducing good changes to the university even in a short duration of one month, many new changes are in the pipeline...and he gave everyone a salary adjustment! Despite many people being skeptic about him, I am rather optimistic about him because he got good reputation in USM.
So indeed 2008 starts off with a big change.
On the personal level, I am anticipating big changes this year. One thing is my Ph.D work will need to be completed, found a church which I enjoy and felt very comfortable in (hopefully will attend frequently), and many changes I hope and should be making ... well, will let you know at the end of the year :)
So 2008 will surely a year of change in many ways. Frankly I do not really know what those changes may be, it is one thing to hope, it is another thing what will turn out. All that I know I should be hopeful that all changes will be good.
One thing is certain, His Grace is sufficient, in the past years, in this year and in all the years to come.
Happy New Year to everyone.
